The blind spot.

Contango Workshop with Cacu Lucero

The blind spot
That place where we don't see directly.
A place we are not used to acces.
And that in the meeting of these two dances, some blind spot appears. In the listening to the other and to the group, while listening to the stimulation that music give us.
Using the concept of huging, roles, rhythm, proposing, all of this encompassed between doing and not doing, giving and receiving, between the personal dimention and something beyond. Between listening and interpretation.

The Workshop
We will go through the dimensions of walking in relationship to each other,  the dimensions of the hug and its possibilities. The use of elastic movements and the strucyures we can create.

To finally get into the spirals and rolls,  and the turning.

Each part of the workshop will have 3 hours dedicated to free dance, to practice with different musical pieces of  electronic tangos and songs from other genres, as well as dancing in “silence”.

I feel important to emphasize the contribution of contact impro that goes from body awareness, to the importance of the solo, small dance, tuned listening, the way of entering and leaving a dance, the space and groupal dance.

It is also important to emphasize the contribution of tango that goes from dancing within an embrace to deepening the Duo, having the music as a reference, and the relationship of roles, to have a structure of steps on which to build the improvisation.

In the fusion of all these possibilities, the tangocontact appears, creating a new language that is neither Tango nor contact, nor does it pretend to be, but that already has its own identity, as a space of exploration without limits, surrounded by both disciplines’s references and techniques

CACU LUCERO
Cacu Lucero, born in Mar del Plata, a city by the sea in Argentina. For more than twenty-one
years, he has been teaching, dancing and developing his own way of teaching tango, paying
close attention to musicality, dynamics and possibilities. Contact Impro and “Expresion
Corporal dance“ had been present in the last 16 years, making a strong influence in his
dancing perspective. Clown, Contemporary Dance, Capoeira and other disciplines that he
has studied have also had a strong influence on his pedagogy.

In 2011, together with Roxana Umpierr started developing „tango experimental“ which was
later unified and renamed as Tangocontact. Research that is in constant development.
Focusing on bringing out every person’s color. Offering possibilities that allow each person
to develop his or her own dance. With joy and softness, in a playful way.

He is always teaching tangocontact and tango in Argentina and in many countries of the
world. Since 2006, he has taken part in International Tango festivals both in Argentina and
Europe. In addition, He has taught Tangocontact in Contact Improvisation festivals in
Argentina

He is also one of the organizers of the International TAngocontact festival, which takes part
in Mar del Plata, Argentina. This year was the 7th edition.

In constant movement. In constant change. Like the waves of the sea.

Exploring, merging, playing. In his own words, “I am fascinated by the possibilities of
transmitting a sensation, an idea, a process… and how whoever receives it will interpret it
and dance it.”
